High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is best known for its high strength to density ratio. This means that it is a very durable material that is able to withstand significant pressure in relation to its density, a notable feature when considering which material to use for a project.

Besides it's strength, HDPE is also able to withstand the corrosive properties of most Alkalis and organic chemicals. It is used in a variety of applications, including outdoor decking, flower pots, agricultural water pipes, and even fuel tanks, to name a few. Any consumer product marked with the SPI resin code of "2" (sometimes referenced as a "recycling code") in the USA is made of HDPE.
